Mrs. Lucia ShelleyThrough the Emerging Leaders Academy, I had the opportunity to be mentored by Mrs. Lucia Shelley. She is a professor at the University of Mary. Mrs. Shelley was an amazing mentor because I was able to ask her any question. Mrs. Shelley also invited me to shadow her as she went to visit two of her student teachers. During this experience with her I was able to see two different student teachers and how they both are able to teach with their different styles. I was also able to see what a supervisor looks for during their visits with a student teacher.

Mrs. Kim FranzThrough the Emerging Leaders Academy, I also was able to work with a professional in the community. Mrs. Kim Franz is a third grade teacher at Red Trail Elementary in Mandan, North Dakota. I was able to go into her classroom several times and observe her and her student teacher. I was able to see how a student teacher and a classroom teacher interact. During my time I also saw daily 5 in action and I was able to compare that experience with my practicum experience to help myself formulate a language arts philosophy. Mrs. Franz also let me ask her any questions which helped me to understand teaching better.
